Anyone else love tiny islands? You get to know everyone so quickly and seemingly, if just for an instance, feel like one of the locals. You know you’re not, but there’s a nice fantasy of “getting away” and starting a new, beachy life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My passport privilege often allows me to go on these adventures with no question, and I recognize that. It is a shame not everyone is granted that right. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This world was made for every one of us to explore and share, not just the countries with an economic or political upper hand.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you been to a tiny island? What’s your favorite?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thanks for the scalp massages before bed & for letting me eat your food even when I said I wasn’t hungry. You’re the real Valentine’s Day MVP. ❤️ Quick tips for finding cheap flights for your vacation this year:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Use fly.com’s list of “Today’s Best Fares” — you can choose what city you want to fly from and it will reveal the best deals in the last 48 hours for the next 90 days. I almost always choose my next destination from this list. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.
2. If you already know your destination use Google Flights or Skyscanner to search fares over a period of flexible dates. You might find a one-day difference can save hundreds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.
3. If you still can’t find anything good, try Kiwi.com’s fare finder. They feature smaller airlines and saved my butt when I became stranded day-of due to an airline bankruptcy.
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. Search nearby airports. I’ve traveled up to four hours by bus just to fly from an airport with cheaper fares. Just make sure to add the cost of the bus to your budget too!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. Book direct. Though i love using third party websites to search great flight deals, I find airlines are more willing to assist when things go awry if you book directly with them. These days they’ll honor the price you found online. The only exception was the one time I booked through Kiwi. They provided “transfer protection” included with the flight since my transfer was between two different airlines. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

They are dried up desert lakes and you can find them all around the world. The one in this photo is Salinas Grandes in Argentina, but they are everywhere — even in the USA! The largest salt flat is Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, a popular tourist destination known for its quirky photo opps.
