Travel Photo Diary: Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica (Part 2)

First: Catch up on Part 1 of my Costa Rican traveling photo diary>>

I'm in my third week here at the Osa but it feels like eternity. With every yoga retreat group that comes in, my ability to quickly bond with complete strangers grows stronger.

There are never too many perfect views here. I find myself waking each morning with deeper gratitude for all around me.

This is our "lounging" couch. It get's the best wi-fi reception so I often find our guests / new friends relaxing here during breaks.

A trip into town (Puerto Jimenez) features a Costa Rican "soda" which we'd consider a homey mom & pop restaurant. (Here's how to get to Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica and the kind of food a typical "Soda" serves.)

I've been working hard on improving my yoga and meditation and am excited to share that my headstand is near perfect. I tweeted about it this week and shared a tip with my followers: to ensure your elbows are shoulder-width apart, cross your arms as a reference. It works!

As usual, the fruit here is fresh and I have come to love starfruit everything. Yes, soup, dressing, and dessert. Here are some cool items for the starfruit curious... For some reason, though, I haven't lost any weight with all of this healthy eating. -___-

At lunch, we also sell snacks and sarongs - which are now housed in our new onsite shop. The vibrant colors match the level of joy at the Osa.

Back to work. And nap time... again. These might become a series; her angles are fabulous.

Although this is more my kind of napping spot.

While Yogi Aaron was away I took Rama and Pete out for their morning and afternoon beach walks. It is such a beautiful experience and truly calming. Until, of course, Pete decides to playfully knock me over in the water and Rama runs into the jungle, chasing the sound of a passing moto.

Oh yeah, our beach walks sometimes get a little weird when we come across sea creature exoskeletons. That's a footprint right next to it... Yikes.

Last week was Dan and Casey's last night. That meant CAKE for dessert!

This Tuesday, one of my favorite guests by far, Ros (PHOTO: middle), also left for London. She is a brilliantly intelligent woman who schooled us volunteers on healthy eating and the effects it has on your brain when you don't eat right. I was on my best behavior when she was around! Now that she's gone, Renee (PHOTO: right) is in town making an errand run for some pork rind chips (Chicharones). I feel guilty and ashamed. This is the last one, Ros, I promise!

All over Blue Osa there are treasures. I call this one our secret garden. It is a tunnel that leads to the pool and spa area, though sometimes I find myself just stopping underneath and gazing at the rich hues of fuchsia.

The most rewarding treasure, by far, is the rain. It is nearing the end of Green Season and there won't be much left; the short spurts of sun showers cool down the humid, hot days, and the sound of the rain drops against the metal roofing silences the noise of our overworked thoughts.
